I must really look like I truly care about the future of Office Depot. I am working there to pass the time until I am able to get a real job. When ever customers say "I can find this cheaper somewhere else" or "I'll just go to Office Max" I think they really think they are hurting my feelings. You know what, I'll even give you directions if you need them, because I don't care. I don't care if you go to Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Office Max, Staples, etc. Go. Please go. You are annoying me anyway and you're stupid, so go shop somewhere else where I will not be bothered by you.
Not much else going on, as usual. Just working a lot and sleeping too. I feel like I am really catching up on all the sleep I missed in the last four and a half years. I do, however, have to start looking into getting my teaching certificate in Illinois though, as well as what the University of Illinois requires for entrance into their SpEd program, and Ed Psych. I also have to start apartment hunting soon because the lease is up in May and none of us are going to renew, because, while everything is fine again with the three of us, we all know we should never live together again.
I am sure JohnRoss will be able to answer this question, so I am hoping he gets around to reading this. I know it's okay for girls who's best friend is a guy to have him be the "maid of honor" but is it okay for him to just be a part of the bridal party? Here's the deal: Teetz is one of my best friends. I want him to be in my wedding. I was thinking he and Silas would be ushers, but the more I think about it, I really want him in my bridal party, which I know sounds kind of weird but I can't help it, he's Teetz. Well, Courtney will be my maid of honor of course, unless something completely unforeseen happens, and in the case that it does, Britt would assume maid of honor duties. Who knows, I know this is a long ways off anyway but I am still thinking about it because I love planning, and what better to plan than a wedding that isn't even happening for another 1+ year(s). Teetz wasn't entirely sure about this whole idea though, and suggested we play "Follow The Leader" down the aisle, which I thought was hilarious, but no one but he and Britt and I would get the joke. See, last year when we all lived near each other (Teetz and I were in Pound, Britt in Husker Courtyards), we would always walk to the Devaney Center for basketball games. Well, one day I suggested we play follow the leader and I said Teetz could go first. Well, he starts doing all this silly stuff, cartwheels, a duck walk, just really silly stuff. Then, when he spins around, he realizes he has been doing it by himself the whole time and Britt and I have just been walking like normal behind him. Good times, for us at least, but it was all in good fun and he didn't mind too much. I think my dress will be a bit much to play "Follow The Leader" in though, so it will probably have to be saved for the reception.
Thinking about "Follow The Leader" actually made me kind of sad, because it reminded me of everything I wrote about in my last post, and here was yet another memory I have of my two best friends. *Sigh*. I am starting to really hate change.

Just A Lazy Friday Afternoon
I haven't updated in a few days, and there's not really a lot of new stuff to report, so this will be short and sweet.
I received my teaching certificate in the mail on Tuesday, so that was a nice birthday present. We ended up going out again for my birthday, a much smaller group this time (Drake, Teetz, Britt, April, and her friend Michelle). We went to Iggy's, The Spigot, and Sandy's of course. I love Sandy's. I am sure you are all aware of just how much I love that bar, considering that is about the only place we ever go anymore, though I still love Woody's and Duffy's and actually really miss going to those bars.
Today is Silas' birthday, and I think he's coming up to Lincoln for it. I am not sure on this one, but he said he wanted to. I think that also means Mike will come from Omaha, but again, not sure on the details.
Nothing much else. You know, I thought I had rid my life of the crazy people and things were finally settling down - I had been under this impression for quite a few months now. Tundra is off in her crazy world away from my friends, and Crazy Rachel was doing who knows what, but at least it was away from me so I didn't care. Then, wouldn't you know, look who suddenly appeared on Facebook a few days ago. I'd left a message on Megan's wall, and then Rachel left one on Mel's wall because I mentioned not being able to meet with Megan today because of Silas' birthday. Rachel, GROW THE FUCK UP. It was a year ago, I don't think about you, I don't talk about you, get over it, we're not friends, end of story. If it still bothers you that much that you have to snip about it on Facebook (and she also wants to create a group called, "I'm an evil back stabbing B****". Apparently she doesn't know she can swear on Facebook) then that's your deal, not mine. I am not apologizing for anything, and I am not going to waste any more time justifying what happened, because I am not the one who screwed you over. You screwed yourself over and wouldn't leave me out of it, you made the decision for me, Silas and Adam were right from the start. If anyone stabbed anyone in the back, it was you, and if you really want to talk about being a good friend, I have four words for you: New Year's Eve 2003**.

SLACKERS BEWARE!
If you come into the testing center tonight and say stupid things or do stupid things, I will be mean to you. If you are too dumb to figure out by now that you can't have the same scratch paper for one test that you just used on another (IDIOT PSYCH 350 GIRL) or if you can't figure out that the essay section for exam 3 is just like the others and has to be graded BEFORE YOU LEAVE just like the first two exams (STUPID PSYCH 181 GUYS), then you really don't deserve to be here and I will make sure you know it. For those of you who have taken Psych 181, yes I know the computers don't grade the essays, but you have to be smart enough to hit grade so we can send the tests to the grading people online. And why would you leave your account open anyway? I am a firm believe after 5 semesters working here that the kids who take any of the psych classes on-line are the dumbest kids at this university. I mean this as a whole however, and not each individual, because a few of my friends have taken psych classes online, and other people in general who I know to be very smart. However, the idiocy has been proven several times. I don't have these problems with poli sci kids. It's ridiculous.
Not much else going on, we're pretty busy, thus why this post is taking so long for me to write even though it is short. Still paying rent in an apartment I am pretty much using as a storage unit, but what can you do, I pretty much refuse to sleep there unless I absolutely have to.
Papa John's is having a 50% off everything deal and it ends tonight at 8 so we ordered a couple pizzas. It's a good thing I haven't eaten yet today or those calories would really be adding up. Gross.
There's a guy in here right now who has really big hair, and not in a good way. It looked like he wanted a fro so he took a brush and ratted, only it just ended up looking like mice had been nesting in yet. Guys are so dumb sometimes.

Winter Wonderland
I have been done with my portfolio so I don't have much to do at work right now. Brittany has requested a story for her Christmas gift so I could start working on that, which I am kind of excited about. Now that I am all but done with college I will have time to write again and that makes me very very happy. I have so many ideas fighting for attention inside my head right now, it is making me crazy.
I love snow. Absolutely love it. I wish it could snow all the time. Unfortunately, I do not like cold very much, though I prefer it to hot because with cold you can always add layers of clothing. With hot, you can only take off so much before the police are hauling you off to jail for public nudity. The only problem with this snow stuff right now is that I wanted to have Chinese tonight and it is very icky out to even walk from Burnett to the Union. I am pretty sure this is God's way of saying I don't really need to eat anything, so I suppose I will not have dinner.
Teetz saw this really bad accident last week when it was snowing, some of you might have heard about it. This woman was speeding down I-80 (Teetz was coming back from Omaha) toward Lincoln and it had really started snowing. She hit some ice or something, swerved off the road and across the hi-way into oncoming traffic. She and her one year old child were both killed when they struck another car head-on. How stupid can you be? I feel horrible not only for this child who was killed, but for this family as well - a few years ago this woman's sister and her child were also killed in a car accident, though I am not sure if it was weather-related. I just don't understand why people think they are invincible - especially when going up against a force like Mother Nature. She will win every single time, so don't bother trying to fight her. I do not, however, find much sympathy for a woman who knowingly put her life and the life of her child in danger, because look what happened as a result of her carelessness. Now she and her child are dead. I hope wherever she was racing to was worth it, because obviously she never got there in the end.

Almost Done!!!!!
Today was my last day of my inclusive two weeks in the classroom without Mrs. Rangel. I am really glad it is over, but it was such a great experience. The only reason I really am glad to see the time end is because I never felt totally in control of every aspect of the classroom, and by this I mean and I never felt like I knew where everything was located and where Mrs. Rangel kept this or that. Otherwise, I did well. Other staff in the building have been telling Mrs. Rangel how well I've done and that makes me happy.
Deby called me yesterday in tears, I could hardly understand her in the voice mail. All I really got out of it was that Adam won't talk to her and Ashley said she was going to hit her or beat her up or something - the got into a fight that day - and she was really upset. I honestly do not understand what goes on in that boy's head sometimes and if he wasn't in Iraq right now I would slap him upside the head for being such a dumbass. He and Deby didn't always get along when they were living together, but she is still family and yes he and Ashley have been dating for a long time now, but she's not family yet and she has a nasty little habit of lying about things so Adam will feel like he has to stand up for her or some bullshit. She runs to him crying about how so and so said this and blah blah blah, when she made it all up just to try to drive wedges between him and other people. She tried to do it to me and that was one time Adam would not stand for it at all because when it comes to that aspect of his life, Ashley has little say at all. That's why I don't understand why he won't do the same thing for Deby, afterall, she is family and I'm not. I don't know and I didn't get the whole story because I was at work when she called and her phone was off when I called her back. If it was an argument like any of the ones she and Adam had while they were living together, then I know it was bad; Adam is very good at verbally cutting people down, which, big surprise...He's never done it to me but I've seen it first hand with other people and know what the aftermath looks like. His problem is he doesn't take too well to people standing up to him, which Deby and I both did, so I don't get why he reacts to me one way and her another, but the bottom line is, if Ashley doesn't cut this shit out, then Adam really will have a reason to fight with me when he comes home.
I don't know what Wendall's deal is. He didn't eat for a couple days and then he was eating just fine. He's being such a wiener right now, I don't know what to do with him. I should probably take him to the vet.
Nothing else really exciting going on. None of the above mentioned was really all that exciting either, it's just what has been going on in the last couple days. I had better get to work on my portfolio, this bitch is almost done and I can turn it in and be done with UNL and Nebraska forever. Well, in May I can be done with them forever. I really hate this place just a little more every day and I don't think I have ever been so miserable in one place in my entire life. Maybe that's because I actually liked where I lived before and over time Lincoln has just become this really craptastic place that I can't wait to never see again.

Shame On Husker Nation
I have never been more ashamed to be a Cornhusker than yesterday at our football against Oklahoma. Granted, there was a really terrible call toward the end, but do you know what the response was of the so-called "greatest fans in college football"? It was to throw whatever objects they could onto the field. It was absolutely disgusting and the poorest showing of 'sportsmanship' I have ever seen in my life - and I have attended TONS of football games and sporting events in general in my life. I understand the being angry, it was a horrible call and we had every right to be upset. However, throwing half full water bottles and pop bottles onto the field was ridiculous and I am glad they kicked people out of the game for it, it was so disgusting to see that. One bottle hit one of the members of the chain gang - and he had nothing to do with that call at all! He was simply standing there marking the downs, doing his job, and a bottle hit him. I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but regardless, it should not have happened. Then, to top it off, our "greatest fans" booed our own team. Are you fucking kidding me?! You NEVER NEVER NEVER boo your team, no matter what. I miss the days of Tom Osborne when Scott Frost was booed his first season, Osborned said at the post-game press conference for those fans to not come back the following week because he only wanted true Husker fans at the game. I think Callahan needs to do that too, and Solich should have when fans booed Jamal Lord - yes, I know Jamal sucked, but like I said, you NEVER boo your own team, especially against such a huge rival, and their fans will feed off of that so much. The whole day was disgusting, I was so mad, I was just livid. Husker Nation needs to wake up and realize that we are no where near being the '95 team again, or the '97 team, even the 2001 team (yes I know we got spanked by Miami in the Rose Bowl, but we were still a good team) and we will never get back to that position if our fans continue to act that way in front of the entire country which already hates Nebraska fotball anyway. Way to go guys, you all succeeded in making us look like fools again. Shame on all of us.

It's Cute How Stupid You Are
For the most part I have been able to rid my life of those toxic, two-faced, back-stabbing people who like to masquerade as friends. With most, I was lucky enough to find out within a few short months just how fake and ridiculous they were. Unfortunately, recent events with one of these people is really annoying me, not to mention other people have been brought in who have no fucking clue what actually happened. However, these people are just as crazy as the one of which I speak, so I guess thank goodness the crazy people have one another and are not potentially infecting those of us who are sane.
On a much better note: I went home to Illinois with Drake this weekend and it was a blast. I'd already met the majority of his family when they came out her at the end of July but this was cool because I got to see where he grew up and he showed me around Hamilton and Keokuk like I got to show him around Rosemount, etc. It was cool to also see him with his buddies, the ones who are most important to him and the ones who he has really known the longest. We hung out with his best friend Jesse, and Jesse's girlfriend Shanna, who is awesome. They are coming out here for the Oklahoma game so it should be a lot of fun. Of course his mom and dad were just as awesome as before, and we went to his little brother Dane's football games on Saturday. I really liked Hamilton, despite the fact that it is much smaller than what I am used to. Like Lincoln though, we ended up hanging out at Wal-Mart, and Jesse and Drake were addicted to the claw machines and trying to win stuffed animals for Shanna and I...Drake eventually won four of them while we were there, plus when we got back to Lincoln last night I had forgotten something so we ran to Wal-Mart again, and he won me another one. They are pretty cute for being from a machine at Wal-Mart.
My good friend Kim who I haven't seen in ages is coming this weekend. She is taking pictures on Thursday and Friday for her friend's wedding in Norfolk and will be in Lincoln on Saturday. I am stoked, it has been way too long.

Whew, We Escaped...Barely
Well, Nebraska survived thus far. After last week, I was nervous for Iowa State and I know I am not the only one who was having multiple heart attacks tonight. Double OT is not good, but we're still undefeated, however I have a feeling that will change when Texas Tech comes to town. For the most part the game was fun, except I was sitting next to one of those stupid females that didn't know shit about football, you know the kind - those that give women who do know a lot about football a bad name because they are horrible fans and don't know what they're talking about. Example #1: When we missed a field goal, this girl says to her friend, "That is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous, you do not miss field goals, you go to a D-1 school. I think we should say no food for him until he starts practicing a little more." OH MY GOD, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I really get annoyed with dumb bitches who don't understand the game to begin with and have to ask every five seconds, "What does that mean?" but seriously, if she thinks he is the only D-1 kicker to ever miss a field goal, she is the dumbest girl on the planet and believe me, I know some really stupid people, who luckily I do not have to associate with any longer. David Dyches is a much better kicker anyway and should have been starting this season, but that is a whole other post for another time. Anyway, example #2 of her stupidity: one of our defensive lineman ended up chasing ISU's qb on a scramble and she told him to get his fat ass moving. First of all, that 300+ pound fat ass can still run faster than her any day and second of all, generally the linemen aren't scramblers to begin with. The final straw came when we were given a sideline warning and she is freaking out saying how dumb the refs are and calling them all sorts of names, I was like, "It's just a warning, calm the fuck down for Christ's sake." She didn't say another word the rest of the game, it was glorious. I like making stupid bitches shut their mouths. I just wish that if women are going to go to football games and are going to talk trash, they should at least understand the game to begin with so they don't make those of us who actually know our shit look stupid along with them.

Names
This post comes about as I am at work tonight, and also a little later I will get into something I found in Amanda's blog from Sunday. First from work: this girl was taking a test and her first and last name rhyme. Christina Molina. How horrible. Why would you do that to your child? That is one of the silliest things I have ever heard, I bet she was teased in school and teachers would chuckle when they did roll call at the beginning of each school year. Wow, it's just silly.
On that note, I have always been against rhyming the names of twins like 'Kyle' and 'Lyle', or naming them similar things like 'Tammy' and 'Timmy'. I think it is silly and can be confusing, especially for young children. Plus, when they grow older it can be embarrassing even. I am also not a big fan of naming sons after their fathers. I know it is part of honoring your family, but here is a story about Juniors for you that hopefully makes you change your mind if you like Juniors: Tom and Lisa named their first son Tom Jr. When he was younger it worked out fine because they were called 'Tom' and 'Tommy'. Basically, don't name your kids after their fathers unless there is a distinct name you can call them for short in stead of going the 'Tom' and 'Tommy' route. For instance, my first son will be named Cameron David, but not David Cameron. (The 'David' is in honor of my grandfather who everyone knows is one of the most important figures in my life, not for Teetz, as some of you would assume.) Also, for those of you completely out of the loop, 'Cameron' comes from 'Cameron Indoor Stadium' where the greatest college basketball team in the country plays - the Duke Blue Devils. I would give birth to my babies at CIS if I could, but I don't think Coach K would like that much when his team is trying to practice. I really always love the name Cameron, I think it is a good, strong name and really can be used for a boy or a girl, however if I only ever have a girl, I would change it to 'Cameran' so it is more girlish. I don't think Coach K would mind that too much at all.
Now, I also mentioned something I found in Amanda's blog that I thought was interesting. A couple days ago she did a post on names she wouldn't mind being called and this was really interesting to me because there are some names that I am really in love with that I also wouldn't mind being called. Then there are some I absolutely think are disgusting and would scratch out eyes if anyone called me by them.
Ok, total sidenote, but hey, I have ADHD: I have been working on this post since 5:15, but today is the pull date for Psych 181's first exam (one part Essay, one part Multiple Choice). These dumb kids all had the same bright idea: we should all wait til the very last day and then try to do both in an hour because no one else will have the same bright idea. Moral of the story: Psych 181 kids are dumb.
Back to names now, as it is 7:45 now. Thanks again for the idea, Amanda :)
Names I wouldn't mind being called:
Sarah - Of course! I love my name, it means princess and I think I earned it.
Magdelena, or Magdalene - A lot of people don't know, but this was the other possibility for me, but Mom said she took one look at me and knew I was a princess, thus she opted for Sarah instead.
Olivia - I am not sure why, but I love this name. I think it is classic without being old. Plus, there are fewer Olivias out there than Sarahs and it is more unique.
Genevieve - Again, this name is classic without making me sound like an old lady. Not that old is bad, I am just not old yet.
Isabelle - I have a thing for unique/uncommon names. But it is so pretty, Plus, Belle from 'Beauty and the Beast' was awesome and Belle or Bella would be an okay nickname.
Okay, we're closing now so I will have to continue this tomorrow...

"Good News and Bad News"
That's how Taylor described it to me today. So we were at work a couple days ago and my friend Taylor said he was told by one of his sergeants that they may have a chance to go down to New Orleans to help out with flood relief and maintaining some kind of order...
...And while I am thinking of this I have an almost completed unrelated side-note: I was listening to the radio on my way to Belmont today and one stupid DJ was like, "It's my birthday and I don't want to celebrate because I feel guilty about the hurricane." Are you fucking kidding me? I'm sorry, but that has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard in a while, and given some of the people I know, that's saying a lot. These words actually came out of her mouth. Why does she feel guilty for celebrating her birthday? She is completely unrelated to this incident and has nothing to do with it. Yes, we all feel horrible about what happened and many people are doing whatever they can to help, in terms of supplies, money, shelter, etc. but not celebrating your birthday is hardly going to do anything and all you managed to accomplish was to make yourself sound like an idiot. Of course her co-DJ sounded dumb too, commending her for it but saying it was something he could never do. Your birthday is inconsequential to these people and whether or not you celebrate it doesn't matter to anyone, you mean nothing, go celebrate your stupid birthday and shut the hell up...
...and now back to Taylor. I got a voice mail from him while I was helping with Curriculum Night at Belmont, and the exact words were, "Hey hon, give me a call when you get this, talk to you later, bye." Now, this wouldn't have been all that bad, except the tone of his voice was not his normal self, and I've heard this tone before. I heard it in Adam's voice when he said almost the exact same thing to me back in December with, "Sarah, there's something I need to tell you..." and then he told me he was going to Iraq. Well, guess what, the good news is this: Taylor does not have to go to New Orleans or anywhere down south. The bad news: he is on alert and will be deployed again in the near future. I don't know all of the details yet and won't for a while, but there's a high probability he will be going in the next couple weeks/month. Hence, we are going out tomorrow night and we're going to act like nothing's changed and we're all getting ready crunked (as Tom always likes to say). It just sucks because he's only been back since December and now he's going to be going again less than a year later.
On a slightly happier note - I got a ticket to the Wake Forest game on Saturday so I won't be completely without my Huskers this season. I am glad I took Saturdays off, I really need some time to regroup between being at Belmont all the time, and then Office Shithole, and the Testing Center too.
Anyway, that's all for now, I have to get to bed soon, these kids are wearing me out!

And the Jackass Award goes to...
...some kid on 16th Street. This morning around 11 I was coming down 16th street to go to Wells Fargo and as I am sitting at the light right there between Nerdhart and Chi Omega, some kid had been pulled over and two university cops were talking to him. His car was kind of parked at an angle, but I assumed that he was arguing or whatever with them so that's why they had him out of the car. I went on to the bank, then swung back around on 17th to put gas in, so all of that probably took me 20 minutes or so. I come back around again onto 16th (gotta love the one-way streets on campus) and am sitting at that very same light, and the kid is still out there with the cops, who are now giving him a sobriety test. Are you fucking serious? You are really that stupid to A) be drinking and driving B) to do so on campus and C) to be drinking this early in the morning? Come on people, those kinds of people are what we like to call alcoholics, or idiots, probably both. The kid was there with two officers and they were making him do the test where you balance on one foot and say the alphabet backwards. He was just starting his heel-toe walk when the light changed and I went on my merry way. I just think it is ridiculous this dumb kid would even put himself in that position not only endangering himself and others, if he was in fact drunk. How selfish and irresponsible can you honestly be? Things like that really piss me off and if he really was drunk then he deserves to get caught. There are tons of people on campus right now moving in, he could have hit someone. That really pisses me off. Dumbass.
But speaking of drinking, a bunch of us are going out tonight for a last hurrah before classes start on Monday - although I don't actually start til Wednesday, suckers. I have orientation, then I start at Belmont on Thursday. Sandy's and Duffy's for sure, it's going to be hott.
